Amber is not a crystal but fossilized resin or sap from ancient pine
trees and is why its color and transparency varies. It is believed to be
the first substance ever used by humans for decorative purposes. Archaeologists
have found Amber in the form of beads, pendants, talismans and amulets
dating back to 8000 BC in gravesites in Northern Europe. Because Amber
sometimes contains small fragments of plants or insects and sometimes full
insect specimens, it was thought to possess life. It is said that the early
Chinese would even visualize the souls of young dying tigers transmuting
into Amber. When you rub Amber against wool or silk it will become electrically
charged. It is believed that Amber brings forth the following powers: Luck,
Healing, Strength, Protection, Beauty & Love.
