Green Agate

Green Agate is a fibrous quartz, a form of chalcedony. This gem is treated with a green dye to achieve its striking green color, then polished to a brilliant luster. Agate is named after the Achates river in Sicily (now known as the Drillo river) which is the major source for this gemstone. Agate was used by the Egyptians before 3000 B.C. and was discovered with the Stone Age man found in France. Agate is believed to provide strength, courage, longevity, love, healing and protection to the one who wears it. Agate when worn on the arm or carried while gardening was also believed to ensure the fertility of your plants and bring a bountiful harvest.
