Beaded Peruvian Jewelry

All of this merchandise is handmade by independent artisans in Peru, and will have its own section on this site.

Included will be necklaces, chokers and earrings that contain a variety of semi-precious stones such as chrysocolla turquoise, turquoise, pink andean opal, black onyx, rose quartz, sugilite, mahogany obsidian, agates and others. Only the agates are known to be enhanced. The other stones are natural.

Some of the materials used in the jewelry are: bamboo, bone, horn and sometimes seeds.

This Peruvian jewelry is made with a variety of metals such as copper, bronze, iron and “alpaca” silver. Alpaca is not truly a silver. It is an alloy of zinc, nickel, and iron. It has properties similar to stainless steel, which means is does not rust or tarnish. The earwires are made of surgical steel.

To clean alpaca silver dip a cloth into a solution of water and a small amount of detergent (or lemon drops) and gently rub it over the metal until it returns to its original shine.

If you have any questions about the jewelry in this section, feel free to contact SSJC. Please put “Peruvian Ethnic Jewelry” as the subject matter.

I just had to write to let you know how much I love the three Peruvian Necklaces my husband bought from your website for my birthday. They are unique, exotically lovely and I very much enjoy wearing them! I’ve received many compliments and am always wearing them. Best of all, they are lightweight, which I love. It’s like wearing a feather. I wasn’t much of a necklace person, until now!
Thank you,
Stephanie from SC.
